I have found St. Peter Church to be a very faith-filled community. The Holy Spirit is alive and well here.
It took some time for me to get used to such a large parish, but once I started getting active in the church and serving on some ministry teams, like being a Eucharistic minister, I got to meet some of the most faithful Christians one could hope to meet. My prayer is that anyone who feels "lost in the pews" of such a large church realize that, first of all, God is very present in the sanctuary, and that one of the best ways to make the parish feel more intimate, is to become active as a volunteer in one or more ministries. Some might think service is a burden. I have found that any small service that puts you in contact with other members of the Christian community will help you build fellowship.
Once you get to know members of the parish through serving, the "sea of people" at one of the more busy Masses will have "islands of friends" in it. As your involvement grows, the "islands" will grow until you only see "islands of people I don't yet know."
