Catholic Education Commission
Letter to parishioners from St. Peter Catholic Education Commission
Mission Statement
We, the members of the Catholic Education Commission, are called to encourage
the availability of educational programs for all parish youth by acting
in an advisory capacity to the pastor and assisting other education leaders
in evaluating, appraising, planning and making policy for programs which
promote the growth and understanding of our Christian faith.
The Apostolic Mission of the Catholic Education Commission is to discern and formulate policy as well as to serve in an advisory capacity to the pastor, principal and religious education staff on issues that relate to the education and faith development of the children of our parish. This is accomplished by receiving input from the pastor, staff and parish members resulting in the establishment of policies that guide and enrich the religious, academic and spiritual development of our youth. The Catholic Education Commission is comprised of adult parishioners. They serve in this parish ministry for three years and at the Pastor's discretion may be asked to serve a second three-year term.
The Wheeler Library Advisory Board was initiated in 1993 upon the death of Mary L. Wheeler. Her will stipulated that a generous sum be given to St. Peter School to establish, add to, or maintain a library or library fund for the school. The will dictated that an elected Board of three men and three women from the parishioners of St. Peter Church act as advisors along with the school Principal to oversee the funding of that library.
