Service is an important part of youth
ministry and our Catholic tradition, providing us the chance to live out our faith by serving others. Throughout the school year students can become involved in
different service projects or programs. These include:
Annual Food Drive Each fall the
high school youth ministry program, in conjunction with the St. Peter Community Food Pantry, organizes a food drive to benefit the hungry in our local area. Over the
course of two back-to-back weekends, teens distribute grocery bags to parishioners after Mass, inviting them to bring those bags back the following week filled with
non-perishable items for the pantry. When the parishioners return the following week with their bags, teens collect and sort the donations to help stock the pantry
shelves in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Bag Distribution at the Masses: Saturday-Sunday, October 29-30, 2011 Food Collection: Saturday-
Sunday, November 5-6, 2011

ROCK Mission Trip Program The ROCK (Reaching
Out In Christian Kindness) Mission Trip Program is a service program for sophomores through seniors. Originating in 2008, ROCK students work on team building
exercises as well as service and fund raising efforts to prepare to travel out of state and perform service for a community in need during spring break. Past trips
have taken us to rural Kentucky working with the Glenmary Home Missioners, northern Mississippi with the Sacred Heart Southern Mission, the areas of Greater
Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky to work with the Franciscans, and most recently in 2011 to West Virginia to assist Christian Help, Inc. with meeting the needs of the
poor and less fortunate.
The team has already been formed and plans are underway for our 2012 trip.
If you are interested in applying for the 2013 trip, please contact Mary Kay Rogers at marykay@cgtekinc.com
so an application can be sent to you when they become available in May 2012.
Service Team The Service
Team is a group of student volunteers who provide a targeted service to a designated population or ministry group. Annual service team projects include participating
in the onsite Jr. High Winter Retreat. At this event, the service team leads hundreds of teens from local area parishes through a series of game stations, generating
excitement and enthusiasm while gearing them up for the rest of their retreat weekend together.
